2017 Sparkling Blanc de Noir - Gold Medal Winner
Awards:
Gold, 91 points, Critics Challenge International Wine & Spirits Competiton
Tasting Notes:
Flavors of apple, pear, and candied lemon peel dominate the nose. Nicely balanced with nutty and complex bread dough aromas. Enjoy with mushrooms, seafood, and smoked salmon.
Terroir:
This wine is made from 100% estate-grown fruit. Our vines are sheltered in the foothills of Carter’s Mountain in the Monticello American Viticultural Area (AVA).
Winemaker's Notes:
Our Blanc de Noir, meaning "white from black", made from 100% Pinot Noir, is a beautiful representation of how this grape can be transformed to create a world class sparkling wine. Made via Méthode Champenoise, the grapes are picked at night and gently pressed to create a white juice base for this sparkling wine. After aging in 67% stainless steel and 33% neutral French oak, the wine gains complexity by aging on the lees in the bottle for 36 months. At disgorging, a reserve dosage is added to balance acidity and improve mouth-feel.
